Top 10 Proposal Nominations

-Nicolle's Proposal: Rights of people with Dissabilities: I agree with the idea of this group having the same equality as the other groups. I care about these theme, because many people believe that this people does not deserve certain privileges since they have some sickness problems. So, I think people should be treated equally and not treated based on their dissabilities problem.

- Bianca's Proposal: Students of Public Universities Right: It is very convincing, because it would benefit the students as well as the government. She wants that the gov't provides a new scholarship in which it helps students pay the amount of money on time. This, would help that the government receives its money from the students on time and the economy crisis decrease.

- Itze's Proposal: Gay Rights: Her proposal is based on including the decision of gender in the first amendment. People should accept others how they are. If a man feels like a girl, then he is a girl. If a women feels like a boy, then she is a boy. People should not be discriminated on the way they feel.

- Tiffany's Proposal: Immigrants Rights: I agree with her proposal, because "illegal immigrants" should be accepted in the United States. Not all immigrants risk their lifes just to damage another country economy or population. Its a good idea for making something  regarding to this immigrants and treating them without being ignorant or racist.

- Randy's Proposal: Veterans Right: All veterans should be treated with the same benefits as other people. This proposal is convincing, because veterans should receive the benefits according to the number of years they had worked. These people had fought alot for America, so they should be respected.

- Carolina's Proposal: Native American Rights: I agree with her proposal, because native americans are people just like us and they deserve to be treated qeually. Others should remember that these people were the first ones who arrived into the United States, but they were forced to leaved.

- Jenny's Proposal: Voting Rights: I agree with the idea of teenagers getting the right to vote. We should have the right to feel part of the society and deciding what could be better for the country.

- Gaby's Proposal: Elderly People Rights: I completely agree with this proposed new amendment. The son or daughter of an eldery should give the elderly a certain amount of money for their needs and help them in the house work. Many elderly people aren't capable of doing some work at the house, because of their age.

- Mandy's Proposal: Muslim's Rights: His proposal is interesting. People should no be treated different, just because they have another skin color. All people should be treated equally and not depend on their color or ethinicity.

- Roxanne's Proposal: Puerto Rican's Rights: These people should STOP discrimination. Others put labels on other people and that is very offensive. Something should be do to stop this injustice.

Amendment Proposal :)

As you know, women had been mistreated through out the American history. They didn't have many rights neither the right to make their own decisions. Many men abused from them and nothing was done. So, women rebel against men and the government by making some organizations. Then, years laters, they began to received some rights. But even today, the women still discriminated. Even though, there had been many changes and the women had made the difference and had meke history. After all, there had been some laws, constitutions, and amendments proposals made for the women rights.

According to all the rights that had been made, I would like to make some changes and create a new amendment for the constitution. My reasons of making this new amendment would help the countries rate of women being abused to decrease. My proposal is based on making justice and giving certain rights to the women. So, there is this law which was applied specially for the women rights. This law is called Law #54 which a women has the right to send to jail any men who made spousal abuse or a verbal accusation with no proof of physical abuse. I think this law should be applied also to any women who gets abused by a men. I mean to a women besides being the spouse of a men. Men are very abusive with other women besides their spouse. Also, I think that if a women calls the police supposedly because she had been physically abused by him and they don't find any evidence of what she said, she should be send to a trial for false police reports. Another example could be that they call the police for no reason, just to manipulate the other. In this case, both should be punished just because they are calling the police just for manipulation. The police should be focus in protecting women who are being really hurt. Many women maintains in silence and lets the men to abuse from her, so this should stop and women should speak up. If the government apply this law as an amendment, maybe the number of women being killed or abused by men might reduces. The injustice against women or men should STOP. If this keeps going on, the world would be turned into a place where abusing from others would be legal. That sounds awkward, but its the truth. The government its not helping too much! What do you want...To women get extinct by men? So, please react and its not too late too make a better change for the women as well for the men.  Everyone should have equality and the same laws integrated for each human being.

Women and men should deserve the same rights. Lets make a change to the world and you will see a difference. Abuse should not be seen anymore. All the ones who commits this cruel act or breaks a law should be punished.

How the women's rights had changed?

- “I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand" - Susan B. Anthony

Women had succeed in their civil rights movement even though there still men discriminating the women. All of those women fought for our equality and justice. Many years ago, women were treated unfairly since men did whatever they want. Today, they have a lot of rights comparing them with the past.

Regarding to the rights of a woman in the past, there had been many changes. They won many accomplishments by this movement. The women gain the right to vote. In the past, women couldn't decide or gave their own opinions, just men. Also, they got gender equality in which they could have equal job opportunities and sometimes equal pay. They got protection of women rights to divorce. Finally they make justice with this, because it wasn't fair that the women didn't want to be with the men for some reasons and she couldn't get divorced until the men decided so. Today, the women and the men divide their things equally in a divorce. Also, in court, the women has the right to obtain legal decisions. The Government had created laws and tough penalties for rape and sexual abuse against the women. The Bureau of Justice Statistics Crime Data said that more than three women were murdered by their partners every day. It was time that the government did something about this cruel action. Also, there was the passing of laws against sexual harassment. They implemented laws to protect the women against domestic violence. As women had the rights of job equalities, there was an increasing economic growth for them. In the past, about 56% of the American women were in poverty. Yet, the women still having inequalities. In the future, they should receive equal pay as the men in their jobs. Its unfair that they make the same job as a men and are paid less. This affects the women and girls, because they are often the ones who suffer from poverty. Another thing that should change as well for some women and for some men is the criticizing for their religion. All people should have the right to decide what religion they would like to choose and what to believe in. As you know, many people had been killed and discriminated, because of their religion.Women received the opportunity to have a good education and study at schools or universities. We also deserve to know about the world and about other people's history.

The Women fighting for their rights created a great impact in the United States history. Finally, the government and other people decided to hear what the women wanted. Today, many women have equal rights. Also, the government is making justice with them and getting the men punished when he does something wrong.

Struggle & Activism of the Women

The American women had struggle a lot to get equality among men. They got tired of being treated unfairly. Women wasn't too important in those times. So, they wanted to be someone in the world and stand up for what they really are.

Women were very resistant! The 300 women fighting for their rights in Seneca Falls wrote a document called the "Declaration of Sentiments". Also, they began to speak out and created many associations and organizations advocating for what they wanted. One achievement was Alice Paul campaign. This was based on adding the amendment of Equal Rights to the US constitution. Every year, this woman continued with this idea. In 1972, the Congress finally decided to pass this amendment of "Equal Rights Movement". Women used various methods. One of them was the resistance of protesting for their rights. They protested day after day for getting equality between men and women. At last, the government started paying attention to them and hearing their speeches. Finally, all of this women were successful and they got equality and rights. The women didn't used any violent neither economic methods. They usually used the social method by protesting. Many of them tried to make speeches. Others wrote books such as "Course of Popular Lectures". In fact, they created documents, amendments and other things to get the attention of the public.

The American women really did a good job to finally be successful. It was so unfair that men were treated much better than women, just because they were strong and could do heavy jobs. These movement was very important, because it motivated people to stand up and fight for what is right. It was time that someone be strong enough and stood up for each all of these women.

Opression of the American Women

As you know, women were tired of being mistreated by men so they decided to fight for their rights. All of this, was one of the most important themes in the American History. Men felt superior than women just because they were stronger in force. Females were mistreated and they were restricted from doing many things.
Women were treated as secondary to men and that was totally unfair. That's because everyone should be treated equally. Many girls were not allowed to be educated, because supposedly they meant nothing in the family. So, without education, they couldn't stand up for themselves and give good opinions. Also, there was job discrimination against them. They were considered weak and unable to perform heavy jobs. One of the men stereotype for women was that "woman's place is in the home". I think this is so rude, because we should have the right to decide what to do. Even though a women made the same job as a men, they were paid less. They gave them fewer promotions and were denied management-training. Woman's work was house holding just like cooking, cleaning, and caring for children. Many color females were restricted from having and employment, education, housing, and the right to vote.

Adolescent women had a lack of knowledge about sexuality and health. This adolescents suffered of genital mutilation, child marriage, premature parenthood and sexual abuse. This was so sad, because  many of those girls didn't have the life they should have. The Government controlled the women birth. If the women had a certain number of babies, they couldn't have anymore. This was very unfair! A women who had the money and the facilities to maintain another child should be accepted to have another child. Many women were abused sexually by their husbands. Others were forced to marry and have sex with men they do not desire. Also, men abused physically from women and nobody did nothing. In the U.S, a woman is raped every 6 minutes and hurt every 15 seconds. Men are so cruel ; they are supposed to show respect to a women and they are doing the opposite. At last, women were not allowed to vote. Their struggle to win this opportunity was slow and frustrating. This was also unfair for women. Men were the ones who choose and make decisions rather females like them or not. Also, the men controlled the women money. The custody of the children was gave to the men, when there was a divorce.

Women claims for their rights!
Some women weren't allowed to speak first than a men in a meeting or public activity. Also, there were laws telling the women what to wear. Many of the amendments of the constitution were violated for a women. The first amendment was violated, because women did not always have the right of freedom of speech. The fourth amendment was because women weren't protected in their houses and men abused from them. The most violated amendments were the fourteenth and fifteenth. This is because American women citizens weren't treated equally and they weren't allowed to vote.

Discrimination against women can be seen at all ages based on their race, gender, and class. Men did not respect women neither the government. All of this is a a fight for freedom and human equal rights. Women should speak up for their rights and make justice. They should be respected, treated kindly, and be someone in every part they go.

Women Civil Rights Movement History

WE ALSO DESERVE TO BE TREATED EQUALLY !!!
Throughout the US history, the woman had being discriminated. Today there still discrimination against other groups whether its by ethnicity, sexual preference or religion. Women were considered to be the weaker sex. I mean that we had not too much legal rights, career and job opportunities neither the right to vote. All of this strong women got united to fight against the whole country to gain their own civil rights.

The Women Civil Rights group begun in the 1820's with the writings of Fanny Wright, which was the first American woman to speak against slavery and for the equality of women rights. Wright received little support. Later on, Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott organized the "Women Rights Convention" in 1848 at Seneca Falls. Then in 1866,  Stanton, Mott, Susan B. Anthony and Lucy Stone established the American Equal Rights Association. Their ideas about people voting against the negro suffrage and woman suffrage were denied. Another organization called "National Woman Suffrage Association" was created in 1869, in which women advocate for an easier divorce and better job opportunities. Also, the "American Woman Suffrage Association" was formed in Boston lead by Lucy Stone and Julia Howe. It wasn't good that both Associations (AWSA and NWSA) had rival groups, so they decided to get together as one association called "National American Woman Suffrage Association" in 1890. The women rights ended by the 1920's when they gained the right to vote. There was the Civil Right Act in 1964, which outlawed discrimination. Also, in 2009, President Obama signed an Act called "Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act". So, we could conclude that the fighting for our rights actually did not end, because today, some women are being discriminated. All of this women who fought for women rights worked very hard. They risked their lives and worked tirelessly to obtain equality.  Also, they had a lot of success, because today, the women have almost all the  rights. About 19.3 % women lived in the Northeast, 23.1% in the Midwest,  35.0% in South, and 22.6% in the West of the US by 2000. Many of them are college graduates who are looking for progress and justice. Women movements were based in improving education, initiating prison reform, banning alcoholic drinks, and getting slaves free.

Women had succeed in their fights for their rights. Even though, many acts were signed and many associations were made, many people still discriminating the woman. The United States population should be proud of the American woman. This is a woman who stands up for what she wants without giving importance of what others could say against it. Also, she is strong and still helps to get equality for other groups being discriminated as well.

Reflection of my classmates BLOGS :)

Paola's page had a lot of useful information, because she specified and used a lot of details. I agreed with her statement which said: "White Americans wanted to make everyone think they were doing the best for the Native Americans, but they didn't, they only wanted land and ended killing most of Native Americans". That is completely true, because they gave the natives the worst options. Also, her background is cute!

Ivania's blog its awesome! I liked the picture she put on her background. Also, she has different information from the history of the Natives Americans that could help you to understand more. It has a lot of interesting facts such as "The Native American in the treaties they sign they were offered protection, food, farming tools, medicines, education and yearly payment".

Bianca's page is very colorful. Her information, was interesting, because it talk about the ritual of the "Ghost Dance". I think that she should put more dates, just for people that don't know too much about this part of history. But even though, it is useful!

Itze's its cool. I think its very original. You will learn a lot from her entries. In specific, the Native Americans blog talks about how the white government convinced the native to do thing in their own way. Her information seems very professional and you would understand it perfectly.

Cristopher's blog has useful information, but I think he should put his paragraphs in order as his supporting sentences in the introduction. I don't agreed with this fact "Sitting Bull born a leader was now surrendering to the white men which controlled everything without a protest". The whites did a lot of thing to make the Indians surrender but they refused a lot of times.
